ArtPrize Spotlight 2012 – Lights In The Night [PHOTOS]

This past Friday I, along with thousands of others, took part in an interactive ArtPrize exhibit, unlike anything I've ever seen. "Lights In The Night", a piece put together by Mark Carpenter and Dan Johnson, featured thousands of paper sky lanterns being released from strategic points in downtown Grand Rapids. The result was incredible, so incredible in fact, that with less than 48 hours from the time the event took place until the voting ended, "Lights In The Night" was able to make it into the ArtPrize Top 10

“The Dragon” Disqualified From ArtPrize – Should It Have Been? [Poll]

Robin Protz's ArtPrize entry "The Dragon" has been disqualified from ArtPrize.

The popular piece remains on display at the Amway Grand.

"The Dragon" had been in the Top 25, but was disqualified before the Top 10 was announced.

ArtPrize Spotlight 2012- Top 10 Finalists Revealed

 

The ArtPrize 2012 Top 10  were  announced Sunday  at Rosa Parks Circle. Round 2 voting started at 2 pm on Sunday and will go through  11:59 pm. on Thursday.

Out of these top ten, only one will win the $200,000 first prize. Second place gets $75,000, and third $50,000. The seven finalists in fourth through 10th place all will be awarded $5,000.

September 28 to September 30 will be the biggest and busiest weekend of ArtPrize.

There will be a rush of people trying to get one last look at entries before first round voting ends at 11:59pm on Saturday, September 29.  Then we'll have a rush of people to see the Top 10 after it is announced on Sunday.

Is ArtPrize’s Mr. Weekend Funny, Sad, Or Both? [Poll]

‘Good Morning America’ Will Feature ArtPrize Thanks To West Michigan Native Ginger Zee

ArtPrize is a big deal to the Grand Rapids area, and it's about to get another publicity push from West Michigan's own Ginger Zee. Ginger is the weekend meteorologist on "Good Morning America", and is being inducted into the Rockford High School Hall Of Fame this weekend. Thing was, she wouldn't have been able to come generally speaking (because it's hard to take time off in the fast-paced world of news), so she decided to turn this into a working trip.  So, this weekend, she will be broadcasting the weather in Grand Rapids with ArtPrize as the backdrop.
