Christopher Schardt has had installations using fire or LEDs at Burning Man for ten years. This year, Schardt brings an underwater LED sculpture to ArtPrize Eight.

His entry ran into electronic problems after being damaged by water last week, but is now working perfectly.

Burning Man is a "famously hedonistic festival in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert" which brings art and people together to form a temporary community.

ArtPrize also brings massive crowds together with art, but we should probably stop our comparisons there.

"Light Ripples" is Schardt's entry into ArtPrize Eight. The underwater LED sculpture is located in the Grand River next to the Blue Bridge. It uses 12,228 points of light, computer algorithms, music and more to combine technology, art and nature.
