Warning: The following story and accompanying video are serious tearjerkers.

Bruno Mars has a heart of gold. According to a press release, the singer dedicated his sold-out Cleveland show on Saturday, June 28 to 11-year-old Zumyah Thorpe.

Wkyc.com reported that the young girl tragically lost her pregnant mother and two younger sisters last year in a fatal car accident with a drunk driver. Zumyah and her older sister survived, but Zumyah remained in critical condition with a brain injury that doctors weren’t sure she would survive.

Zumyah’s family members and nurses would play her favorite Bruno Mars tunes every night at the hospital as she struggled through her recovery. Zumyah miraculously survived, but she was sadly left with a waned ability to see and speak. Amazingly, she could still sing every word of her favorite Bruno Mars songs.

“I am absolutely convinced that singing those Bruno Mars songs and being able to say ‘Bruno Mars’ is in itself a miracle,” said Nancy Bass, Zumyah’s neurologist, “and knowing all the words to the songs has helped her recover.”

Touched by the story, Bruno made his way to Zumyah in the audience during his Cleveland performance. He serenaded her with her favorite song ‘Just the Way You Are.’ Afterwards, he gifted her the fedora he was wearing and the guitar he played during the show.

In the video above you can watch Bruno’s dedication and performance for Zumyah. Grab some tissues beforehand!
