Homer Mellen was 7 years old in 1915.

That's when he wrote this very modest letter to Santa.

It will definitely make you think about what kids are asking for this Christmas.

Mellen didn't want anything very extravagant. All the London, Ontario, boy asked for were some paints, paper and a new school bag.

He also adds that if Santa Claus has any left over nuts, candy or toys that he would take those as well.

This is very different from the lists we see today that are bursting with gadgets that could run parents thousands of dollars.

Mellen's son kept the letter, and his grandson put it out for the world to see.

Pretty awesome.
