A young boy used his love of gospel to help get him through a pretty scary situation and it may have saved his life.

Willie Myrick, 9, was kidnapped from the driveway of his home in Atlanta earlier this month. He told police the kidnapper drove him around for three hours before dropping him off completely unharmed.

But what caused the kidnapper to let the boy go? Willie told police that he sang the gospel song "Every Praise" repeatedly until the man finally told him to get out of the car. Willie said that while he was singing, the man kept swearing and telling him to shut up before eventually kicking him out and told the boy not to tell anyone what had happened.

Grammy Award-winning gospel singer Hezekiah Walker, who wrote the song, heard about Willie's story and flew to Atlanta to meet him.

"I just wanted to hug him and tell him I love him," Walker told NBC 11.

On Thursday, the community came together at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where Walker performed the song along with the entire congregation and Willie.
