Jon Bon Jovi has been in the limelight for most of his adult life and it seems the excitement is beginning to fade. During a recent interview with the U.K.'s Guardian, the 48-year-old rocker says that the thrill of celebrity is gone and that the aging process is taking its toll.

"I'm vain inasmuch as I think I'm terribly out of shape right now. If you want to be perfectly honest, I'm 10 lb overweight and I'm drinking too much and I'm bored to tears," he says in the interview. "I'm not the fat Elvis. At 48, I look OK. But you know . . . I'm coming to real good terms with getting older."

He adds that with a few more years under his belt he understands how easy it can be for some people to submit to the aging process.

"You can see why people get fat, grow old, give up! Because every day is: get up, do the same mundane s**t," he adds. "When you don't know anything more, and you don't see anything more, and you're not willing to open up your eyes and take a step in another direction . . . that treadmill would make any young man old."

Bon Jovi's new greatest hits album is due in stores on November 9.
