America celebrates the victorious death of a the man behind the plot to kill thousands of innocent people because of his hatred and twisted ideals.

Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks,  is dead after U.S. intelligence led to his hideout in a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

After Bin Laden’s DNA was a confirmed match, his body was buried at sea.

President Obama has taken credit for the successful operation to capture and kill Bin Laden … admitting quote, “And so shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Pannetta, the director of the CIA, to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority of our war against al Qaeda, even as we continued our broader efforts to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat his network.” (bold and italics are mine)   Click here for the Presiden’ts full transcript.

I clearly recall the chilling day that we were attacked and our brave leaders, including President Bush and New York Mayor Giuliani, standing firm in their mission to pursue the person or persons responsible for such a heinous crime against humanity and our blessed country.  This courageous stand came at a dear price including the division of many Americans who did not have the heart to see this mission come to fruition.  Perhaps today, our former administration will  be honored for its heroic efforts to do its best to keep terrorists off our soil, as well as, hold each one accountable for his or her crimes.

Broader efforts, indeed.  Fighting evil requires it!  Sacrifice is the cost of freedom.

A Wayland father is relieved at the news of Bin Laden’s death.  His daughter, Barbara Edwards, was killed on the hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 that crashed into the Pentagon.    Click here for the full story.
