Best Places in Grand Rapids for a Bachelorette Party – Our Top Five
Wedding season is approaching!!! It’s true, June is known to be the most popular month to have a wedding, and yes even I had a June wedding. Not because that was the cool thing to do, but I wanted to be married on my grandparent’s anniversary June 26th. Cue the… “AWWWW” Yep, it was a wonderful day, but before I took that trip down the aisle I made sure I had a pre-wedding celebration with some of the best friends a girl could ask for. It was the Bachelorette Party! If you’re a maid of honor looking for a few ideas to show the bride a great night out with her girls, check out some of these destinations & ideas in and around GR to celebrate.
#1 Spa Day
What girl doesn’t like a day of pampering? Massages, facials, and of course nails! All us girls took the day and got our nails done at Tammy Nails on Alpine Ave. You can get a mani & a pedi together for under $40, and they do a fabulous job. And while you’re getting your nails did, you get to relax in one of their amazing massage chairs. Be sure to shave your legs though, because you get to enjoy a calf/foot massage while you’re there J AMAZING! After a day at the salon, head to dinner with the gals to show off your fabulousness.
Not everyone can afford a weekend in Vegas for their bachelorette party. Luckily Gun Lake Casino recently opened and is about a half hour south of GR. Winning money is a great way to start off a marriage, and having Stage 131 & Crossroads right in the casino with music and cold drinks you’ll have everything you need in one location for a great night out. OH, if you don’t want to experience the female version of “the Hangover,” make sure you have a DD to keep everyone accounted for, or a limo/party bus from Affordable Limousine LLC to take care of the transportation.
#3 Night on the Town
Downtown Grand Rapids has some of the greatest night life. Cold beverages at Flanagan’s Irish Pub on Pearl, live music at Billy’s Lounge on Wealthy SE, and then the dueling piano bar Mojo’s on Pearl & Monroe. Bringing a bunch of fun loving girls into Mojo’s with pink feather boas and light up favors tend to draw some attention from the piano players. And they tend to bring all of the brides in the place up on the stage to dance for the crowd. Bring the camera. JW Marriot is right downtown if you need a place to crash at the end of the night, and split the room cost with the gals.
Some brides like to go out with their girls while her groom to be is out with the boys, then later both parties meet up at a bar to party together. If your bride wants to combine the bachelor & bachelorette parties I suggest you kick it off at the paintball range. Team Bride vs. Team Groom (aka the losing team unless they aren’t very bright), then of course the losers get to buy dinner and drinks later. Check out TC Paintball in Grandville, they even have private party options. It’s a great way to just have fun before the big day with some of your best friends.
The best thing I did two days before the wedding was just escape to the beach. Grab the girls, lie out and fine tune your tans for the big day. West Michigan is home to some of the most beautiful and amazing beaches; Grand Haven, Silver Beach in St. Joe, and Muskegon. If you want you can even invite the gentlemen to bring a picnic lunch and come out to enjoy the fun in the sand.
Remember that you don’t have to do the traditional or expected rituals when having or throwing a bachelorette party. The point of the BP is to go out and celebrate that next part of growing up with friends…and to not get arrested J
