Beachgoers this weekend beware. Wind and waves are expected to pick up starting Friday night, and will cause beach hazards along Lake Michigan for the holiday weekend.

The National Weather Service says that starting Friday night at about 8 p.m. through Saturday night, there will be high wave action along the shoreline which will cause strong currents and dangerous swimming conditions.

The advisory extends all the way from St. Joseph to Manistee. Beaches with that are expected to have particularly dangerous conditions include South Haven, Grand Haven State Park, and Pere Marquette Park in Muskegon.
