Battle Creek’s Lakeview Schools Closed After Anonymous Email Threat

This is the third instance in the past year in which Lakeview School District in Battle Creek has closed due to threats.

Fox 17 reports that Lakeview Schools received the threatening message Tuesday night through the district's website. The anonymous email specifically mentioned staff. 

Lakeview Schools posted to Facebook early Wednesday,

Lakeview School district is closed today, Wednesday, February 1. Child care is closed. No staff are to report - this includes staff who normally report on snow days.

District officials are working with the Battle Creek Police Department to investigate an anonymous threat emailed to staff late Tuesday night. Updates on the status of the investigation and after school activities will be provided through the district's website and Facebook pages.

According to police, the email came in around 10:15p.m. on Tuesday. Part of the threat read,

“I am so sick of this ****. You better close school tomorrow or I’m going to shoot the place up.”

The previous threats to the school district include bomb threats in March and November of 2016.
