‘Girls Trip’ Review: The Filthiest and Funniest Comedy of the Summer

Four women, one weekend, a lot of alcohol, and more dick jokes than you can count. It’s the perfect recipe for a raunchy comedy, and makes Girls Trip the funniest, filthiest, and most feminist comedy of the summer. It’s the latest in a growing subgenre of R-rated female-led comedies, making it impossible to avoid comparisons to Bridesmaids, Trainwreck, Bad Moms, and Rough Night. But Girls Trip isn’t just notable for its foul-mouthed sense of humor; you can see women being nasty on any episode of Broad City. The latest from director Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man Holiday), tells a story that celebrates black sisterhood, female sexuality and most rewardingly, self-respect.

Tim Burton has officially begun production on his live-action version of Dumbo, the most depressing Disney movie of all time. (Okay, maybe that’s up for debate, but this movie wrecked me as a child.) We’ve heard rumors about the cast for a while now, from Colin Farrell to Danny DeVito and Michael Keaton, and they’re all true! Don’t Ask ‘Shameless’ Star Elliot Fletcher About His Backstory

If you look back on the history of transgender characters in film and TV, you’ll find few depictions of trans men. Besides Hillary Swank in Boys Don’t Cry, there was Daniela Sea’s Max on The L Word, Glenn Close and Janet McTeer in Albert Nobbs, and a few minor TV roles here and there. The one thing all those roles have in common? They weren’t played by trans actors. But Elliot Fletcher is swiftly changing that and paving the way for a better future on the small screen.

The ‘Love Actually’ Sequel Is Full of Reunions and Surprise Happy Endings

It’s been 14 years since a group of British actors starred in one the most widely debated Christmas movies of all time. Love Actually starred Andrew Lincoln before he was slaying zombies, Chiwetel Ejiofor before he was leading Best Picture-winning dramas, and that cute kid (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) kids before he was helping Bran Stark on Game of Thrones. This being the reboot/reunion era where no good (or hated) thing can be left alone, Love Actually is back with a mini sequel of sorts.

A ‘Harry Potter’ Prequel Handwritten By J.K. Rowling Has Been Stolen

J.K. Rowling is a pretty gracious woman. Beyond giving us the Wizarding World, regularly answering Harry Potter fan questions on Twitter, and annually apologizing for character deaths, she also gives back a little. In 2008, the author wrote an idea for a Potter prequel and auctioned it off to raise funds for a literacy charity. Now someone has stolen that rare prequel, because the world is full of ungrateful muggles.

Lady Gaga Sings With Bradley Cooper in First ‘A Star is Born’ Photo

Stefani Germanotta, better known to the world as Lady Gaga, decided to try out the title of triple threat when she entered Hollywood back in 2013. With minor roles in Machete Kills and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, it was hard to tell just how serious we were supposed to take Gaga’s acting career. Then she went and won a Golden Globe last year for her vampiric role in American Horror Story: Hotel. With next year’s A Star is Born remake, she’ll have the perfect opportunity to show off her acting skills on the big screen while doing what she does best: sing.

How to Fix That ‘Exclusively Gay Moment’ in ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Aah, remember just three weeks ago when we all thought Disney was about to introduce the studio’s first openly gay character? Director Bill Condon said his live-action Beauty and the Beast remake would feature a character having an “exclusively gay moment,” and described Josh Gad‘s LeFou as someone who both wants to be Gaston (Luke Evans), and kiss Gaston. Then critics saw the movie and found no openly gay character in sight. The investigation continues into what exactly an “exclusively gay moment” is – if anyone has figured it out, please let me know – but it’s certainly not whatever happened at the end of Beauty and the Beast.

‘The Jungle Book’ Beats ‘Rogue One’ and For Best Visual Effects at 2017 Oscars

Disney’s The Jungle Book remake was honored with the Best Visual Effects Oscar on Sunday night. While the Jon Favreau movie was a clear front-runner, the studio had the advantage in the category. Other nominees included Marvel’s Doctor Strange, which brought the psychedelic visuals of the comic to life in a handful of mesmerizing sequences, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which featured some of the franchises’ most audacious and stunning battle sequences. And of course we couldn’t forget Kubo and the Two Strings, as well as Deepwater Horizon.
