First Look at Baby Porgs in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Will Melt Your Brain
If you, like us, were driven to joyful tears by the mere mention of “baby Porgs,” then you’ve come to the right place. Maybe. Kind of. See, they’re not exactly what you probably imagined when Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy name-dropped the infant version of everyone’s new favorite Star Wars creature last week. Depending on your perspective, baby Porgs either look totally cute or like a surrealist clay sculpture of nesting agony that demands to be documented by Werner Herzog.
Of Course Jessica Chastain Wants to Play Adult Beverly in ‘IT: Chapter Two’
In the days following the release of IT, several fans (ourselves included) began speculating about who might play the adult versions of the Losers Club in the sequel. One of the most popular choices for the role of grown-up Beverly Marsh, played in the first film by the scene-stealing Sophia Lillis, was Jessica Chastain — a sensible pick, considering that Chastain previously starred in director Andres Muschietti’s feature debut, Mama. As for Chastain herself, she’s totally down to take on that evil clown.
Kevin Spacey Accused of Sexually Assaulting Richard Dreyfuss’ Son as Sony Considers ‘All the Money in the World’ Delay
Following his suspension from Netflix in the wake of a growing number of sexual assault and harassment allegations, Kevin Spacey has found himself at the center of another damning accusation. Harry Dreyfuss, son of actor Richard Dreyfuss, says he was also sexually assaulted by the Oscar-winning actor. The latest allegation has come to light just as a new report reveals that Sony may cancel its upcoming premiere of Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World and potentially move the film, which stars Spacey, out of awards season altogether.
Final ‘Coco’ Trailer Welcomes You to the Land of the Dead
Chances are, by the time you head home for Thanksgiving, you’ll have already seen Justice League — and let’s be honest, there’s no way in hell your mom is going to see that wacky superhero “stuff,” and no amount of Ben Affleck in a rubber suit is going to change her mind. Good thing the final trailer for Pixar’s Coco is here to remind you that there is another, much more family-friendly option for national Eat Turkey in Sweatpants Until You Collapse Into a Coma week.
Ben Affleck to Donate All Future Weinstein Film Residuals to Charity
Say what you will about Kevin Smith’s recent films or his persona, but there’s no denying that the filmmaker made the right call when he announced his intention to donate all future Weinstein and Miramax film residuals to charity. And now he’s inspired longtime friend Ben Affleck to do the same, as the Justice League star has revealed that he will donate his own residuals from Weinstein films to Film Independent and RAINN (the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network).
How Actress Paz de la Huerta’s Allegations About Harvey Weinstein Could Lead to His Arrest
Former Boardwalk Empire star Paz de la Huerta is the latest actress to come forward with damning allegations against disgraced executive Harvey Weinstein. In the weeks since the initial accusations surfaced in a pair of bombshell exposés, dozens of women (and counting) have courageously shared traumatic stories of sexual harassment, assault, and rape at the hands of one of Hollywood’s most powerful men. But this case is different from many others; the New York Police Department could bring felony charges against Weinstein based on de la Huerta’s allegations.
Disney Reveals Full ‘Lion King’ Live-Action Voice Cast
As usual, Disney waited until late afternoon to make a major announcement, but it’s always nice to end the day with some awesome news. Today, it’s the full voice cast ensemble for The Lion King, Jon Favreau’s live-action (-ish) reimagining of the studio’s animated classic — and perhaps the most exciting project on their upcoming (and growing) slate of live-action remakes.
Dustin Hoffman Accused of Sexual Harassing Former Production Assistant in 1985
Brett Ratner isn’t the only Hollywood heavyweight whose history of alleged sexual misconduct was exposed today. Around the same time that The LA Times published their extensive report on Ratner, The Hollywood Reporter ran a guest column from Anna Graham Hunter, an author and former production assistant who alleges that Dustin Hoffman sexually harassed and forcibly groped her on the set of a 1985 TV film.
You Can Watch the Terrifying Opening Scene From ‘IT’ Right Now
IT is the biggest horror film of the year, and if you still haven’t seen Andy Muschietti’s surprisingly great adaptation of Stephen King’s classic novel (doubtful, you’re smart people), then perhaps the opening scene from the movie will persuade you…or maybe it’ll just reinforce your decision to stay the heck at home in your comfy, cozy, sewer clown-free environment. Beep beep!
‘Beetlejuice 2’ Summons a New Writer (And Yes, It’s Still in Development)
Cinema legend has it that if you say his name three times, Beetlejuice will appear. Given how often the Beetlejuice sequel has been discussed in the press, we should have like, eight more of these movies by now. And although the long-gestating project remains unofficial, Warner Bros. has brought on a new writer to take a crack at writing a screenplay worthy of luring Tim Burton and Michael Keaton back for more spooky fun.
20 Movie Co-Stars Who Couldn’t Stand Each Other
If you read a headline today about how much Tommy Lee Jones hated working with Jim Carrey in Batman Forever and thought it sounded familiar, that’s because you’ve definitely heard this one before. Back in 2014, Carrey made an appearance on Howard Stern’s show, where he revealed that the famously prickly Jones was extra-prickly on the set of Joel Schumacher’s notorious Batman sequel. Apparently Carrey still isn’t over it because he re-told the story on this week’s episode of Norm Macdonald Live. In honor (?) of Carrey’s inability to just let this one go already, here are 20 more co-stars who really couldn’t stand working together.
What’s Expiring From Netflix: October 2017
By now you’ve probably heard that 30 Rock is leaving Netflix Instant, and if you’re anything like me, you are distraught. Inconsolable, even. The good news is that we still have Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Parks and Recreation, so there’s that, at least. Anyway, 30 Rock isn’t the only title expiring from Netflix in October, so let’s commence the mourning, shall we?
