There are only four more days to vote, and we're not talking the general election.

The ArtPrize 2014finalists for public voting and juried honors are in, and the top 20 in four categories on both lists is getting narrowed down through 11:59 p.m. Thursday.

Today (Monday, Oct. 6) is the 13th day of ArtPrize's 19-day run, with 1,825 artists represented by 1,536 entries at 174 venues in downtown Grand Rapids and Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park.

The public voting determines a $200,000 grand prize winner, with another $200,000 grand prize selected from the jurors' shortlists. There is $560,000 in prize money being awarded for the sixth annual ArtPrize, with four $20,000 category awards being awarded in both public and juried competitions.

There were 352,732 votes cast in the first round of public voting, according to ArtPrize's tabulation. Public voting is today through Thursday is from 3 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. each day.

ArtPrize's Critical Discourse programming wraps up with the two-part series "Why These Finalists?"

Tonight from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The ArtPrize Hub Soundstage, 41 Sheldon Boulevard SE, three art experts discuss the public and juried finalists for three-dimensional and time-based installations. On Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., three other art experts are discussing public and juried finalists for two-dimensional and installations.

Both sessions are being broadcast by WOOD TV-8.

Today's Thing to Do

Take an hour-long tour led by faculty through the ArtPrize exhibition at Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University's Federal Building galleries, 17 Pearl Street NW.

The tour runs from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and is geared toward families with upper elementary school grade-level children up to adults.

The theme for Kendall College's ArtPrize exhibition is "I Am: Money Matters," kicking off the 2014-2015 season reflecting on themes of socioeconomics, value, currency, consumerism, etc., as they relate to identity. There are eight entries on display for ArtPrize.
