On Wednesday, John Ball Zoo announced they are welcoming a red panda named Wyatt to their zoo family. The public will get to see Wyatt for the first time in mid-August, but we have photos of him today!

Wyatt is a 5-year-old red panda who is coming to Grand Rapids from the Chattanooga Zoo.

Wyatt became a parent for the first time last summer on July 10 when his mating partner Maina gave birth to two male cubs.

Maina and Wyatt became a breeding pair in 2014. Chattanooga Zoo has had red pandas since 1998, but this was the first red panda birth at the zoo.

Sadly, just three months after the birth of the two male cubs, Maina died unexpectedly.
