Adam Levine in Details Issue: ‘I Just Really Love Women’
In addition to looking stylish in black and white photos, where he “shaves” his head and is cloaked in a simple, clean, white tank, Levine offers a stare that allows a peek into his soul. The five o’clock shadow that’s become his signature is also present in all photos.
As for the feature itself, he goes deeper. Levine, who only recently split with model GF Anne V., admitted that being alone strikes fear in his heart. “I’m fiercely independent, but I’m also terrified of being alone. I travel in a pack. I like to be surrounded, not just with my boys, but with family, too.”
He also spoke about why he is so popular with the ladies, in addition to his boyishly handsome good looks, which get an extra edge thanks to his copious tatts. He’s hot, but that’s not solely why girls are drawn to him. It’s his understanding of the female species.
“One of my theories on why I’m so capable of understanding women is that after my parents split, my mom moved in with her brother’s ex-wife—my aunt—who was also newly single,” he revealed. “So I was living in a house with two jilted women, plus my cousin, who’s more like my sister, and my brother, Michael, who we eventually find out is gay. Just the estrogen alone . . . You know when you’re 14 and terrified to talk to a girl? I didn’t suffer much from that. It seemed very natural to me to talk to girls.” Whoa! What an emotional hot plate that situation must’ve been. Still, it worked in his favor.
While Levine is a “natural” when it comes to hollering at girls, he dissected to the two types of men, in relation to women. “There are two kinds of men,” he theorized. “There are men who are f—ing misogynist pigs, and then there are men who just really love women, who think they’re the most amazing people in the world.” Of course, he is in the latter group, saying, “And that’s me. Maybe the reason I was promiscuous, and wanted to sleep with a lot of them, is that I love them so much.”
That’s quite a theory, Adam. Does it hold water? Maybe a little bit. It’s a good excuse for sleeping around, though. Better than others we’ve heard over the years.
In the behind-the-scenes video, Levine answers rapid fire questions about his favorite band of all time (hard to choose); his first celeb crush (Wonder Woman); a fashion trend he dislikes (he prefers solids to stripes); and his fave L.A. hangout (home!)
