I have the coolest story to share with you today about the National Day of Prayer!

Today is the 60th observance since the National Day of Prayer was enacted in 1952.

My friend Susan, who lives in West Michigan, was the national coordinator for the National Day of Prayer in the eighties. She helped the National Prayer Committee create a resolution that amended the law to hold this special annual observance on the first Thursday of May.  President Ronald Reagan agreed and signed the resolution in 1988.

After Susan met the president, she penned a really neat book about her adventure in creating legislation that has made American history.  It’s titled: Kit Kat Time-Travel Adventure (#21), and takes kids back to the first Thanksgiving, Continental Congress, George Washington on his knees at Valley Forge and the Civil War.    Kit Kat soon learns that  America was founded on the principle, In God We Trust, and that many pivotal events and leaders have focused on God in prayer for guidance.

Where can you go today to pray?
