Apparently, people really want to name their kids after the Mother of Dragons. Game of Thronesbaby names are on the rise. So much so that in 2012 146 baby girls in the US were named “Khaleesi”. One has to assume that they were named after Daenerys Targaryen - The Mother of Dragons in HBO's hit series Game Of Thrones. Twenty-one babies had her actual name - Daenerys - given to them for the rest of their lives.

Turns out that in 2012, more babies were named Khaleesi in the US than they were named Alex or Brandy. Since this data from the Social Security Administration is from 2012, we can only assume that there will be even more GOT  inspired names surfacing when we get stats for 2013. I'm guessing we'll see a lot more babies named Khaleesi - or Ygritte, or Cersei, or Tyrion. Though I'm just going to come right out and say it - I would never name my baby Cersei.
