Tuesday, Grand Rapids will launch a new hotline to make it easier for residents to interact with the city.

The 311 service will allow residents to ask questions, make comments and file complaints about city services. 311 will also take reports on things like potholes, street light outages, and problems with city workers.

City officials have said that 311 could be one of the most important improvements in city services in years.

The city also offers the service as a website where residents can report complaints and inquiries.

And, there's an app! The new GRCity311 makes it possible for anyone with an iPhone or Android Smartphone to report pot holes, graffiti, street light problems, and a wide range of other issues from anywhere in the City’s service area. Reports are submitted directly into the City’s Citizen Request Management systems and integrate with the operations work management solutions – giving city workers the information they need to fix the problem quickly. Citizens receive a ticket number allowing them to track progress and receive notice when the reported matter is resolved.
