Now, I've never been a teenage boy, but I've interacted with enough of them in my life to know that burping is a staple in their life. Burping loudly, even more so (this could go for some grown men as well). So, when I read a headline about a teenage boy being arrested for burping, I had to dig a little deeper and figure out what it was all about.

The story goes like this: 13-year-old male student was handcuffed and hauled off to a juvenile detention for burping in class. This is all mapped out in a civil lawsuit filed naming the Albuquerque public school principal, a teacher and a city police officer as defendants.

The Albuquerque Journal reported the seventh grader (whose name was not released due to his age) was arrested last May 11 at Cleveland Middle School after he "burped audibly" in his P.E. class.

The suit also alleges that the boy was taken to the juvenile detention center before his parents were even notified that there was an issue. In addition, they say that he was denied due process because he was suspended for the rest of the school year without being given an explanation or being given the chance to defend himself.

The boy, apparently, was never charged with an actual crime.
