No matter what time of the year it is, you should always tip when necessary because some people live off of tips and, in general, it's good etiquette.

Market Watch says that a survey of over 1,400 adults found that over 30% of Americans have no intention on tipping. The majority of people say they won't tip because they can't afford to and some believe tipping is unnecessary over the holidays.

But etiquette experts say that these aren’t good reasons not to tip people who have served you during the year."

If anything, the holidays is the time that we should be tipping to show our appreciation to those who have helped us out and offered us a service in some way. Basically, it's a way of saying thank you, no matter how small or how big the tip is. Experts say the tip doesn't even have to be cash it can be in the form of a gift card or a handmade gift. So who should you be tipping?

...people “who have helped you look your best, or made your life easier throughout the year,”

Some of these people include:

  • Manicurist: $25 to $50 or a gift
  • Hairdresser: $50 to $100 or a gift

  • Housekeeper: Up to the cost of one visit
  • Pet Groomer: Up to the cost of one session or a gift
